This contest encourages our community’s 8th grade students to continue and deepen their connection to their faith through creative writing. The top two entries received will be awarded a one-time $1000 tuition scholarship paid to their Catholic High School.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current 8th Grade Students
- Attending St Thomas More Cathedral School
- Enrolled to attend a Catholic High School in the 2025-2026 school year
Contest Guidelines: Complete an essay (500-800 words) on the following topic:
“The Election of a New Pope and the effect it will have on the Catholic Church.”
- Submit your essay to your English teacher by May 23rd, 2025.
- Each essay will be submitted as a .PDF file or .docx file.
- Essay header data should include:
- Student’s name
- STM Homeroom Teacher’s Name
- Their Catholic High School for the 2025-2026 school year
Contest Process:
- Essays are judged on their originality, sincerity, and the entrant’s ability to convey their thoughts.
- The top two finalists will receive a one-time $1000 scholarship paid to their Catholic High School.
- Entrants will be notified of the results at eighth grade graduation.
